Ms. Henry teaches 2nd, 5th, 6th and 7th grade special education. This is her 9th year at Pulaski and she is grateful to be a part of such an amazing school community. She believes elementary school should promote a sense of excitement and possibility and aims to provide a variety of learning experiences to engage all learners. Ms. Henry received her BA in 2006 at Grinnell College in English and German, and later completed her MAT and special education endorsement at National Louis University through the Chicago Teaching Fellows program. In January 2017, Ms. Henry was awarded the Chicago Foundation for Education’s Teacher of the Year award for her ongoing commitment to providing holistic educational experiences to her students as well as taking on leadership roles in her school and the CFE community. In 2014, Ms. Henry was the recipient of a Fund for Teachers fellowship that led her to Denmark to investigate what makes one of their cities the happiest in the world. You can watch the documentary she created here! Together with Ms. Hernandez, Ms. Henry is coordinating the OST/After School All Stars grant that is providing over 30 free enrichment clubs to our students. She leads the Saber Council and the PBIS committee and will be directing the Fall play; A Christmas Carol. She looks forward to putting on the annual Talent Show with Mr. Green in June and planning the annual Field Day event with other rockstar staff who know how to show the kids a good time! Outside of school, Ms. Henry loves to try out new recipes on her friends, practice yoga, bike, and spend time with her husband, pet dog and mini-lop bunny.
