Get Involved

Whether you shelve books or supervise recess; whether you work one hour a week or one hour a month; whether you make phone calls, copies, or cookies – your work is essential to the strength of the Pulaski community and sets a great example for all of our children.

Volunteer efforts at Pulaski are now directed by Sarah Harris, one of Pulaski’s two Community School Coordinators.  Sarah will oversee volunteer registration, coordinate volunteer schedules, and serve as the point-person between volunteers and teachers/administrators.  She will work closely with parent representatives from the LSC, Friends of Pulaski, the NCLB Committee, and the BAC to promote and support volunteer work throughout the school.

A list of volunteer opportunities with the responsibilities and time commitment is outlined below and  posted on the Pulaski Together bulletin board in the Main Building.

Registration Tips

  • MOST Pulaski volunteer opportunities require a CPS volunteer registration packet and submit to a CPS-administered background check.  You may not work directly with children until your volunteer registration has been approved.
  • Volunteer approval is good for one year.  You must register again each school year.
  • TB tests are needed for volunteers working five hours or more each week.  You DO NOT need a TB test if you will be volunteering for less than five hours each week.
  • Background checks take at least 3 weeks to be completed.  The sooner you return your registration packet, the sooner you can start volunteering!
  • Volunteer Registration Packets are available in the Parent Volunteer boxes outside of both offices.  The packet can also be downloaded here.  Completed packets can be returned to the Parent Volunteer boxes outside of both offices.
