Library Media Center

The Mission of Pulaski International School of Chicago’s Library Media Center is to prepare students on how to best find, evaluate and process information as well as develop a love of reading for both learning and enjoyment.

Every student is welcome and encouraged to use the Library.  Parents are also welcome to visit the library to check out books for students while classes are not being held. We have over 8,000 books for the students to choose from. The number of books a student is allowed to check out is determined by grade level.  Students are expected to return books in a timely manner so that others can enjoy them.

Any book that is lost or damaged must be paid for by the student.

Grades K-5th are scheduled for Library class once a week.  They are usually given an opportunity to check out books at this time.  In class we work on Library Skills, Technology Skills, Author Studies, Reading and Critical Thinking Skills.   Second through Fifth graders are expected to be bring a dedicated notebook and pencil to class each week. Fifth graders will learn their First Class Login and are to save computer work only to their account.  No work will be saved to the computers.

Grades 6-8th are brought in with their grade level teacher to check out books, work on projects and do research.  They can also visit if there is not a class being held.

All students are also expected to follow the four rules of Pulaski while in the Library.

  1. Be Responsible
  2. Be Respectful
  3. Be Positive
  4. Be Safe
